The World Commission on Environment and Development (1987), also known as the Brundtland Commission, defined sustainable development as that which "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs." One revision of this definition is attributed to the State of Oregon: "Sustainability means using, developing, and protecting resources at a rate and in a manner that enables people to meet their current needs and also provides that future generations can meet their own needs.... Sustainability requires simultaneously meeting environmental, economic, and community needs."

We are quite proud of the Palm Desert Health Sciences Building for being one of the most environmentally sound buildings in the Coachella Valley. It is a LEED Gold certified building and is constructed out of recycled materials.
